T O P I C R E V I E WrajinIs there any truth in the saying" marriages are made in heaven" Which would mean that we are born with a certain destined path and we are here to fulfill it.so what about free will? And are we not responsible for the actions that we take? Why is it that some people get away with being cruel to others, they seem to suffer no heartache or remorse. Is it because of destiny?WritesomethingNobody knows the answers to these deep questions. I would never assume to either. Makes life interesting at least.GlaucusI agree with writesomething.Raymond------------------“It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status. In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War.“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/15/science/space/15xena.html?_r=1comica23How much we know about the reality depends on how capable we are to be able to perceive it. But well, whether we know the truth or not, or whether there's free will or not, it's up to us to decide what to do, what to think and what meanings we give to what we are able to know/understand. And personally, I think that's what matters.belgz:*------------------•' •.♥♫♫´°°♫ • Life is Beautiful •.♥.•♫°°´♫♫ ♥ ••Sun• Cancer•Moon• Gemini•Mars• Cancer•Mercury• Cancer•Venus• Leo•••Virgo Rising•••bopbopWe are always responsible for what we do. "Destiny" cannot change that, whether a person believes in it or not. I think fate and free will exist at the same time, but people are just too close to see it that way... sort of like time and space. When you look at the stars you are seeing a star in the past, and you realize that time is merely separation in space and they are not two separate things.Seeing Stars 7.21the wrongs someone does do not go unaccounted for. Everyone has to pay the piper. I dont believe Saturn gives exceptions. just because you dont see how someone is being punished doesnt mean they arentPlutonian PersonaPersonally, I think it just depends on where you are in your own personal cycle of life. Some people are going to be rich, have the great marriage, or commit murder while others aren't. We each have all the things that we need in this life to be happy, but whether we use them or not is up to us.vertiverAnd some people don't believe in Marriage, you can have a union with someone without getting legally married. I'm never getting married until same-sex marriage is legal in this country, why should some people get denied the right to marriage because of some outdated religious ideologies that founded this country? lionseye***I think any union that is significant is preordained, be it mother, sibling, best freind, child or spouse...That does not mean it's going to be a happy union. We actually learn faster through pain and disappointment, or so it seems. Some relationships are quick and intense and we learn a butt load of stuff about ourselves in a very short time...usually about what we value. As for marriage, well you can't get any closer than that. If you don't at least learn a thing or two about yourself, and your romantic needs, then it's a miracle. Or a sham. The worst thing I can imagine is a life where I'm handed a husband and told "this is your mate for life. Period. If you don't prefer him, you're a sinner"... What if he's a fool, or a bad lover, or a cheater, or ugly, or stupid, or horrible at conversation? What if I don't like anything about him? Ahhhhhhh~!! What are my options? Death? I'd consider it. GypseeWindThis is a really interesting question, and as you probably know, there isn't gonna be a right or wrong answer. But some food for thought. I was born in Kentucky and grew up in New Jersey. My ex husband was born in Hawaii and grew up in California.I moved to Ohio and went to school in a city I will call, brickhouse. He moved to ohio and went to another school. Then his parents moved to brickhouse. He was older than me, and technically, we shouldn't have had any classes together. But, he was a musician and I was in a music class, and his grade class was full, so they stuck him in mine.I remember the day he walked in. He looked directly at me, and that was the person I dated the rest of high school and married when I was 17 years old.We travelled around as he was in the Navy after school ended. We even had a child that was stillborn. We split up, and it was very painful. So was it made in heaven? Did I have free will? Was it all coincidence? I don't know, I beleive it was Karma. Maybe after the baby, our karma was complete.I certainly don't know, but I hope you find the ansers your searching for.DianaSeeing Stars:I dont believe Saturn gives exceptions. Do you mean transiting saturn reaps punishment? I'm intrigued....rajinThanks everybody for your insights. I keep on wondering about destiny because you have people who come into your life, make an impact and then walk out. You wish and hope that they will be a part of your life forever, and they sometimes return back. If it works out it probably means that both people had something more to learn and then return back. But if it breaks up again why did they come together for a second time? What was the point? I believe in a benevolent God, I don't think He doles out punishments, but why scratch a scab and make it bleed again? It is an eternal question.GypseeWindMaybe the learning isn't complete yet?

In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War.
“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”
